Why I proposed it.
The concept note begins with observations of retail traders describing loss spirals. Its design question is whether a loss limit chosen in advance can interrupt the decision to keep trading.
The proposed sequence.
The proposed system monitors a preset loss budget through a broker connection. A confirmation buffer and alert stage precede a temporary trading lock. These are specifications in a concept note, not verified production behavior.
Questions about control and consent.
False triggers, exceptional circumstances and the ability to revoke consent all affect whether a commitment device is helpful. A mechanism that removes a choice needs more scrutiny than one that merely adds a notification.
The proposal depends on choosing a limit before losses make that decision harder.
How can a commitment device protect agency while limiting an action?
